Head Lights 996

My 996 C2 (2002) has headlamps that appear to have strange patches on them - they must be on the inside because I cant seem to rub, what appears to be like a film of some sort off ? Anyone out there had a similar experience? The appearance does spoil the look of the car as otherwise my bodywork and paint standard is excellent. Headlamps work fine, just naff appearance - any ideas how to cure or are we looking at expensive replacements? No idea what replacement units cost - but suspect heavy.

Are you sure it's on the inside? It can only be condensation. This should vent off naturally. I have read on forums about drilling vent holes on the underside, but I would be cautious doing that. The above is most likely and will polish off.

Re head Light problem - thanks for the suggestions Fellas - the more I look at the lights the more I know this is an external lens problem and looks like these marks will polish out. Have now seen the video re the toothpaste method - also seen another using White vinegar mixed with Baking soda(to form a paste). Will try one of these methods and let you know the results.

I used Autoglym Super Resin Polish with a buffer on front and rear lens - look great

We used 2500 grade wet & dry, followed by Meguiars Ultimate Compound on a friends badly faded Clio headlights. Results were astounding!
