Hi all im going to be using my 2006 Cayman 981 on some long drives through the winter I would like to upgrade my front lights to more powerful ones than standard can anyone advise on my options thanks

Hi

if it's 2006 it's not a 981,

maybe you meant 2016 ?

if you did I changed my regular halogen Bulbs in my 981 for higher wattage ones and the result was poor, not much better than standard. Then I tried the blue ish ones from Philips and they were worse. Moral of the story is the standard Bulbs are as good as it gets unless you go hid conversions I think.

Get autobahn/pCT in Coventry to fit xenons

or swap car for one with bi xenons

first tick on my options list

good luck

Xenons are the best available and you'll need to fit headlamp washers but they are expensive and I don't know what wiring add-ons may be necessary Xenons do need more power!

Alternatively, there are upgraded bulbs from Osram which give some improvement although it's not great, I used them on my 986S which was notorious for how poor the lighting was!

Another way of improving the lights is to clean the outer face, even cleaning with the usual cleaners doesn't do the job so I use the Meguiar's ultimate compound to polish the surface it's amazing how much it improved my son's MX5 lights and my runaround Z4 both with ordinary headlights.
