HEAD UNIT REPLACEMENT FOR 996C4S

Hi All,
I know this topic has come up before but I am still not clear of the options other than the latest replacement from Porsche which is way too expensive.
Can anyone recommend a head unit with sat nav that will work with my 996. I have a bose amp in the front but understand modern units are not able to connect to the amp and can only connect directly to the speakers which rather defeats the object.
I live in London so any help with any fitters or recommendations would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you and am evaluating options. However, if you just want it done to a fantastic standard and are ok with paying someone to do it, Auto Audio in Park Royal are basically the best in the country. I would use them again but I'm too far away now.

You can buy an adapter which converts the RCA outputs from the new head unit to fibre optic (MOST) inputs to the Bose/Harman amplifier.

I just had a very nice Sony unit fitted by John Kleis of Reading in my non Boss 996.1 that had the full Nav -Phone 6 cd changer and amp PCM . The Sony has apple play for Sat Nav or Android version, is DAB and phone is handsfree with touch screen and voice it IMHO also looks the part. They fitted it so it reversible with the old unit if need be. I think they kept the amp connected. Was fitted just before the Wales trip and it was great. My point is it may be worth discussing with a good stereo shop how much to fit as they know what they are doing. Getting it wrong can be expensive.

thanks all for your input, much appreciated. I would't dream of doing it myself so will look at one of your recommendations.
thanks
