Which system did you buy? So correct me if I am wrong, you bought new headers and a cat-less pipe to replace the primary cats or have you bought something else?

You should be OK without the extra cable, but it depends on where the manufacturer has put the sensor holes. Some words of advice on the fitting; make sure that you soak and I mean really soak the header bolts in a penetrating spray before attempting to undo them. These bolts corrode like crazy and are prone to snapping and the last thing you want to do is to drill them out. If you can spare the expense replace the bolts when you replace the headers. As for running catless pipes you should also be aware that you may get check engine lights; Not something you can really avoid but there is always a downside to many performance enhancing products.

all bolts will be replaced, got all new clamps and the u bend pipes to silencer, nightmare if any snap off, i`m replacing these with stainless so hopefully can`t happen again, all bolts to be stainless, thanks again

Would be interested if you get engine light. What would just the decat pipe do for the 2.5? Is it just noise and how much mouser does it get? Any issues with MOT?

a increase in performance so i`m told by the person who makes them, but no good for the mot will fail emissions due to no cat

OK. You seen any videos of what the decat sounds like on the 2.5? I could not find anything. Also do mind mentioning the cost of just the decat pipe please?

i got them both of e-bay, somebody had sold their car and had these and never got around to putting them on, got them both for £230 just keep looking for the bargains [:)]

Unless the insurance company have been informed of the mod the insurace cover will be void. Then of course the same would alpply when you put the cat back on - you would have to inform the insurance company again as the car would still not be factory spec. Technically "simples" legally not quite so!

I replaced the headers on my car and fitted a replacement Oettle style back box. I reckon you are in for a surprise, and not in a good way [;)]

You could say the same for NOT fitting 'N' rated tyres. My insurance company said there wasn't any problem if I was changing the exhaust for a 'Stainless Steel' version, so that's what I did [:D] My argument would be there was no performance or aesthetic gain simply greater longevity, simples [;)]

But if there is no performance or aesthetic gain one is inclined to ask what is the point? Surely you could get a stainless system INCLUDING a cat then you would get the longevity without pumping out all those nasty nitrogen compounds that are actually quite toxic. I still think you give you insurance company just the wriggle room they would need if the need arose. They might then be in a position to say "not covered sir - simples"

We're back to the not fitting 'N' rated tyres again aren't we. Anyway I didn't say there was no performance gain just that i would argue there wasn't. Obviously with a simple cat and backbox change i have been capatulted into 997 GT3RS territory, at least that is what it sounds like to me[;)] My car now sounds fantastic which is why I did it, as to the insurance company not covering it, I have the date, time and name of the insurance advisor and can quote verbatim what was said regarding the exhaust mods during our conversation. Personally there are other things that would keep me awake at night but since I have done the mods it's a bit late, maybe I should drive more carefully[8|] As for wiggle room with insurance companies, now I know you are just being silly, simples[:D]
