Headlamp unit locking mechanism

I traced down a faulty connection on the headlamp unit and found that the problem was the unit was not locked into the mount in the wing. A lucky escape - in 4 months of ownership I haven't had to do an e-stop or the unit would have carried on down the road. The problem stemmed from the fact that the hex head on the end of the U shaped bar that locks the headlamp unit into place has been stripped and the hex socket cannot turn it to lock properly.

Does anyone have an idea of the cost of getting a new locking bar? I'm guessing that the bar can't be bought itself, but I'm hoping that there is a sub-assembly somewhere between the bar and the whole carrier that sits inside the wing. John

What year is your car, as there may be a couple of other small bits you may want to change at the same time. If you send me an email, I'll extract the parts list and diagrams and send them to you.

Hi John.

I think I have a complete unit in amongst my spares, Let me know which side you require, and it can be yours for a small fee. Regards.

Bob.

Bob, many thanks for the offer but given the price I think its just as easy to pop into my local OPC in Chiswick and pick up the part from there. Thanks again, though.

Richard, I'll drop you an email directly. Cheers, John
