Headlight adjust motor missing

Having purchased my first Porsche a few months ago I am now settling in to the joys of ownership[:D]

When I have been driving at night, I have been flashed a few times and realised that my beam was too high. I adjusted this and still was getting flashed quite regularly. Now fustrated I decided to check the beam when I was right up against the garage door. When i moved the thumb wheel, there was no change in the height. I then investigated the fuse and that was OK.
Next step was to remove the lights and free up what I expected to be a jammed motor.
To my horror there was no motor in either of the lamps, only the end of a wiring loom.
My car is six years old and I cannot believe that this has gone unoticed all that time, although the lights look like they have not been played with in anyway.

So my questions are[&:]
Has anyone had same the same thing?
Can I get the motors easily at a good price?
Thinking of going Litronic, where is the best place to buy?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe it been in a front end accident? If so then the reparers may have 'forgotten' to fit them!

I know it had the PU resprayed, but the bonnet is original and shows no sign of being resprayed (to my knowledge). This was a couple of years ago and the lights look a lot older, although they could have come from a breaker!
