Headlight Adjustment

Can anyone tell me how to alter/raise the headlamp beam on my wife's Boxster. I have a 996 and there is an adjusting wheel on the dashboard but my wife's Boxster doesn't have one. I can't find anything in the manual I have on CD either. She claims that now the dark nights have drawn in, the dipped beam is pointing towards the ground and even with the main beam on, it doesn't seem to make much difference. Any ideas please?? John

I take it these are not litronics? (which are self leveling - and I guess could be stuck...)

If you look in the handbook and follow the instructions for removing the headlights to change the bulbs, you'll find there is a rubber bung that is removed to allow access for the removal tool. (No need to remove the bung or headlams this time though)
Around this bung are 3 plastic flaps - these cover the screws for the 3 directions of adjustment.
I'm not sure offhand which is the vertical - but if you keep track of what you are doing you should be able to back out any experimental wrong moves!

Two of the adjustment holes are for the headlight (one up/down, the other left/right) the other is for the fog lamp (up/down only).

If you do have lintronics/xenon headlights the beam can be adjusted but the self levelling is controlled by a small plastic arm attached to the front suspension. These are prone to fail but are easy to replace.

Thanx very much for that. They are ordinary bulbs which I have replaced with Xenon white bulbs but don't appear to be as bright. Cheers, John.
