Headlight bingo - again

Same old problem - turn the headlights on and the spoiler rises - or the oil light and battery warning light come on - or , sometimes , just the lights come on.

I have replaced the ignition switch and light switch as recommended in the forum.

What next? Any obvious things to do ?

How old is the battery? It might be a problem of low voltage. Take a look at the battery change DIY in the Technical Articles section, which has some battery checks.

Hi Richard

Unfortunately the battery is only two months old - and the problem persisted from the old to the new battery

I can live with this but feel a bit stupid when I have to manually toggle down the rear spoiler after turning the headlights on!

The spoiler is controlled by the instrument cluster. It might be worth getting a diagnostic check done on the cluster, to see if there are any faults recorded. If you are anywhere near me I would be happy to do it for you. If not, I doubt that any good indy would charge much, if anything, for a quick check.

One further bit of information - if I turn the lights on before starting the car then the problem doesn't happen!
