Headlight Bulb replacement!

OK - I give up!

I must be doing something so silly!!.

Need to change my Headlight bulbs as I got some Halfords Extreme light ones (they were on a BOGOF).

So - remobed the face plastic on the front of the pod.. Undid the 4 screws that hold the lamp in place (3 on the same metal bracket). Then I try and remove the lamp.. It freely moves in the pod but I cannot for the life of me get it out the pod???

What am I doing wrong?? Whats the trick?? Am I supposed to unplug something first or something?

The book just says remove all 4 screws and remove pod!! yeah ok!

Help please [:)]

Remove the cover panel (the bit you see when the lights are closed), this gives you access to the back of the lamp.

It's a little tight, be careful when you prize it off that you don't drop it & chip the paint [;)]

I had this when changing my bulbs to the same as you've bought. You will kick yourself, as I did, but replace all the plastic trim and put the lights in the up position before pulling the fuse so they stay up when the ignition is off. Either side of the light cover you will see 3 ( I think) in total screws holding the cover onto the lght assembly. Take these off and carefully lever the metal light cover off takng care not to scratch the paint as mentioned above. You can now get your hand in to remove the bulb, replace and refit the covers. 10 mins max vs a good half hour of headscratching before!

Some of the screws you have undone affect the beam pattern so might be worth getting it checked or roughly resetting as per the Haynes manual guidelines.

When I went in to my headlights at the front , I was warned " you may have effected the beam ", however as long as you dont touch the two adjuster screws in each headlamp there is no reason at all why you cant take the unit out from the front without disturbing the beam. I did this and found it to be very easy. And you dont have to pull the fuse you just turn the ignition off with the headlight switch on.

Boy did I spend some time scratching my head until I read it on the web though , nightmare lol

Yip all replaced.. removed the pod top as you guys suggested and that was fine..

Although I am sure that the pods dont look 100% aligned now - could just be me being paranoid I suppose [&:] Might have to have another play when its light.

The lights tho I have to say are brilliant - a very good light now.
