stupid question for you.......

we are cleaning the car ready for Concoursing (rather tongue in cheek as its really not up to it ....yet)it at Brands. would like to clean inside the headlights as the glass it abit mucky.
is there a easy way of removing the glass, we are worried about breaking it as it seems to be held in with plastic clips?????

I doesn't come off the reflector. You can remove the whole until but the white plastic clips are a patented substance called "breakolite" and they will shatter. They are only pence from an OPC for new ones though so don't let that stop you. Search and there is a post by me with pics and even the part number on here somewhere.

Be very careful with these as you could end up costing yourself £££££

Undo the small covers either side of the lens by removing one screw in each.

Then you will see the aiming adjusters and a screw in each corner that holds teh lens to the backlight. These screws are more than likely corroded to pieces and will round off as soon as you try to undo them [] If this happens you have no choice but to drill them out. This is where the money can add up because if the drill slips then the lenses are circa £80 each and if you ruin the backplate then the whole assembly is £160 each.

If you are lucky enough to get yours off then replace with new stainless screws and smother them in grease

took the little side lights off at the week-end and gave them a good clean but couldn't seem to see any obvious way of removing the glass from the main "side" light. it looks like its held in with plasic clips underneith ?? i think they are going to have to stay dirty then [&o] i've spent way too much money on this car already
