Headlight Not Working

Please help. I noticed yesterday evening that my nearside headlight bulb was out but the side light was ok. Got home tonight and changed the bulb even though the original looked fine. Switched it on and still not working. Checked the fuse and that was ok but changed anyway - still no joy. Swapped this bulb with the offside and it worked in the offside. The one from offsidde which worked, was put into the neaside housing and still didn't work. Obviously some kind of connection. I've checked every connection but still no joy. Any ideas please? John

Check that the connector (1) hasn't become unclipped from the mounting bracket on the headlight tray.

Thanks Richard but that was the first thing I checked as I had the same problem with my previous Boxster and turned out that the bracket was broken. This one is fine. It's got me baffled.

have you tried cleaning the contacts in the bulb holder with a bit of emery paper sometimes they can get a little corroded

I think you need to check you are getting power to Pin 9 of the headlamp connector (yellow&black wire from the loom), with the headlights and ignition switched on. If you are getting 12v+ there, there must be a problem in the headlight unit. As Ashley says, look for a bad connection. If you don't get 12v+ at the connector, you need to tracce it back further in the loom.

The headlight feeds have separate supplies from the main headlight switch, so if you aren't getting a supply to the nearside headlight, and fuse A10 is intact, the switch is your most likely culprit.
