headlight operation

Hi all,

I have recently purchased an ex race car, a 1983 2.5. For me to be able to drive it to the events the seller got the front lights to work again. Is this how they should work:
Ingintion on, light switch in position 2 and the lights pop up and are on dipped. When the main beam switch is operated the pop up lights remain dipped but the 2 bumper mounted rectangular lights come on to give high beam, is this correct ? Don't forget its an early 944, 924 dash etc.
Also when the pop up lights pop up, they go up, then lower slightly, still up but drop slightly. The dipped lights are rubbish also.

Thanks all

I have an S2 so slightly different for me as I have front fog/auxiliary headlamps in the bumper as well as the pop up headlights. On mine - pop ups have both main and high beam and the auxiliary headlamps are on a separate switch.

I thought the small rectangular lights in the regular 944 were fog lights and so should be separately switched from the headlights. I believe the pop ups should have both main and high beams. As far as coming up and then "settling" down a bit - I believe this is kind of standard.

Dipped lights being rubbish - well - could have low wattage bulbs and probably need a proper aligning for road use.
