Headlight problem

Hi,

I seem to have a bit of an issue with my headlights or, more specifically, one of them. My driver's side pop up light seems to have no dipped beam. Full beam it works fine, but dipped there's nothing at all. The passenger side light works as it should.

I thought initially that it was just the filament in the bulb that had gone (I understand that the bulbs have 2 filaments), but I've changed the bulb for a new one, and the same is happening.

My car is an '87 lux, btw.

Any ideas?

Check the wiring leading up to the headlight(s). With years of flexing caused by the lights being raised and lowered the insulation cracks and can cause short circuits and, more likely in your case, the conductors themselves break inside the outer sheathing. This happened to our S2 and I had to replace about 18" of the loom on both lights. Tony

Just had similar problem on my S2

Check the fuses, if blown problem could just be a short inside the connector plug due to corrosion. Clean and try again

The wiring could have broken of course, but suggest you try this first!
