I need to replace the headlight backing plate on my passenger side and I cant figure out how to remove the old one! After removing the 4 retaining screws, there is a funny plug-type thing at the bottom inner side. Can anyone tell me how this comes off?

Ho hum. Anybody?[&o] I think it is just gummed up with 17 years worth of grime but am loathe to use too big a scredriver to prise it off. Somebody put me out of my misery...

do you have a pic by any chance? by 'headlight backing plate' what do you mean exactly? The bit you can see when the lights are down?

It's the electric height adjuster but I can't tell you how to get it off as I haven't quite got round to removing mine yet.

Thanks chaps. It is the height adjuster as Fen says. Trust me to have problems with a part that no-one has had to remove as yet [] So much for my "just popping outside to work on the car for 10 minutes dear"[:D]
If I have time I will have another go at the weekend and will take a pic. The part is only visible with the lights up once you have removed the top metal plate and the rubber shroud.
