This subject is not particularly new and has no doubt been covered, but i've not had my 964 long and its not just the bogeyman that scares me at night, the lights are appalling, what are the best proven upgrades at sensible prices for DIY conversion

Kevin,

In order of expense:

1 Osram Silverstar bulbs (£25)
2 New headlights (£160)
3 HID (Xenon) bulbs/ballasts etc. (£250)

You CAN replace just the headlight lenses (approx £12 each) but the reflectors show their age too and it's more productive to replace the whole thing. The HIDs are just out of this world (www.hids4u.co.uk are recommended by many) but at a price of course.

Hope that helps. Welcome to 964 ownership BTW!!!

Regards

Dave

Cheers Barry

Time to do some shopping for new candles, did you do your own conversion or was a job you entrusted to others?

Thanks

Kevin

IF you are handy its very very simple, very difficult on the audi, but on a 964 2 hours at most, remove head light and bulb, drill a hole 22mm in cover plate,, place new bulb in slots,, mount the 2 hid units on the inner wings inside boot,, connect the 4 wires ,, this simply is fitted to excisting connections its that simple , stand back and look at day light, I recommend the 6000 hid pilots , these are the best light , not a cosmetic blue light , just very clear white light
