Headlights for Europe (986)

Hello,
2002 986
Does anyone have a pair of LHD headlights for sale, hire, loan or whatever. Doing a European tour next year in July and I would rather have the correct headlights rather than the beam deflecting stickers.
I would be willing to swap for a pair of RHD units if someone has an imported car and needs UK headlights.

Cheers,

I just put stickers on mine when we went to France last year, same with the BMW when we went to Germany. Can't say it was ever a problem. Mind you, we didn't do so much night driving.

I'm after halogen lights.

In some countries it is compulsory to drive with your headlights on during the day. I was also thinking that having the headlights on during the day may cause the glue on the beam adjusters to melt (along with the hot weather I have ordered). Maybe having some spare adjusters is the answer.
I can achieve driving in this country to and from the ferry (Hull - Rotterdam) in daylight so having LHD lights wouldn't be a problem.

All part of the fun of planning.

Cheers,

Rob,
Headlamps on an E39 BMW are adjustable for LH/RH driving-you just remove the black plug on top of the housings of the headlamps under the bonnet, then switch the levers over.

I have a 2006 987 and I'm driving down to Italy in January, I came here to ask about headlight deflector thingy's. But after reading this thread i now wonder if i need them. Does my car have a lever or something to adjust then?

Thanks Samantha

Do you have Xenon headlights?

Nick, can you email me on fredhindle at hotmail dot com regarding the 986 LHD headlights. If you put your phone number on I'll give you a ring.

Cheers,

Hi Fred,

if you were thinking on retrofitting my LHD Lintronic units, they are not 'plug and play' as they need addtional wiring just to work. Even after you have done this the car they will function but will not have the self leveling inputs that come from two sensors on the suspension.

See here for more info: Lintronic Upgrade

You are looking at around £360-400 pounds for the additional parts.

Hello Nick,

I was thinking they were plug 'n' play given the way the halogen ones fit.

I think it will be a case of fitting 'beam bending' stickers unless I find some halogen LHD lights.

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers,

Porsche do a set of foils:

Ouch..... probably do as good a job with some 'Hal-fights' ones.
