I've never come across a headlights warning buzzer on a 944? Is it an aftermarket fitting or was it fitted to early cars?

I've never come across a 944 with a warning buzzer either. My square dash never had it and my oval dash doesn't have it.

See the attached diagram - This has been published on the web and I have it on my car. It's a pretty simple circuit so if a previous owner has fitted the same thing it should be easy enough to trace. Probably a loose/shorting wire. You should be able to locate the buzzer unit by ear.. it'll be under the dash on the driver's side, then trace the wires.

There was a lights-on/door open "gong" on US spec cars. Certainly on the early cars, not sure about the late ones. It is one of the most gorgeous sounding things I have ever heard, such that I used to open the door with the lights on on purpose just to hear it! Unfortunately it is also hideously expensive, otherwise I would probably have retro-fitted one to my UK car by now!
