Headlights

Paul, It's worse than that I'm afraid. You'll need complete headlight units - £200+ each for non-levelling type, lots more with the levelling. Replacing the lens alone will not give the correct beam pattern and will fail an MOT. Regards Dave

Ouch.... Thanks for the advice... Are the headlights 964 specific or do earlier 911 ones fit. Ill look out for a second hand pair as the uk registration is only temporary, the car is going to france with me next year hopefully hence buying a lhd one in the first instance

To get it through the MOT it maybe possible to blank out a portion of the lens as we do when traveling to France or fit a pair of those lens deflectors from a motor factor. Replacing the headlamps is an expensive thing to do if its a temp measure.

Ive just bought my first 964 lhd from europe,
I need to get it uk registered and mot'd and was wondering if the headlights are adjusable to point the right way as on the later 996 or if i need new lenses
Thanks in advance

^^^ What he said, my car runs original LHD lights and lenses, I simply black out the portion and its fine for the MOT. I guess individual garages may vary, but got to be worth a go before forking out for new lights.

I still have the original LHD headlight units on mine and they are adjusted as much as possible for UK road. It has passed the last six mot's at various stations without a problem.
