Heads Up

Thought I would give all you nice people a quick heads up that the road works section of the A80 is now being patrolled by traffic crews dedicated to catching people who are driving over the 40mph speed limit, this is being done prior to the installation of the SPEC system of average speed cameras later in the year.

Please watch out if you travel this road they are out and about

Chris

Yes Been covered before but well worth bringing up Stopped using it and head through Kilsyth now when heading out of Glasgow ps if a certain traffic officer stops us do we wave our membership and get a warning[:D][:D] NOT!

Might get you a warning [:)] showing the card but that strech of road now has one traffic crew monday to saturday on it just looking for speeders prior to SPEC's being installed.

why do the contractors only work on one shift? surely 24/7 working for a project like this would be far less detrimental to the economy than having congestion for 2-3 times the time?

on another topic - some advice if you've got a minute Chris....what am I going to get in trouble for the least in this scenario.... my wee kit car (westfield - a caterham/lotus 7 style thing) has an issue with the front number plate - the only place to mount it is hanging down at the front..but the loverly speed bumps the council installed on the way to my house rip the bloody thing off every time (3 gone so far) - a full size plate hangs so low its almost scraping the ground at the best of time, and I've tried mounting it in front of the grill, but the engine overheats due to lack of air...so my options are: 1. run without a front number plate 2. have a full-size stick on one - apart from being ugly its curved across the front and certainly ain't vertical 3. a small front plate - would have to be technically illegal font size I don't do a lot of miles, but I don't want to take the piss - what measure is the one which is least likely to cause offence to your colleagues - unofficially of course.... just don't want them to think I'm some sort of nova boy with an illegal plate for the sake of it....just can't get a legal one to bloomin fit on the car in a reasonable way...

I would run with a smaller front number plate and hope for the best as long as the rear number plate it the regulation size most of us would not bother. You could consider the stick on one. The down side with the smaller font style if stopped it could cost you £60 which is the fine for this offence. Best of luck Chris

Mount a full size one ... but on a hinge, lightly spring loaded would be best. That way it tips back for speed bumps, but would hang down correctly if you are stopped. Worth a try? [;)]

Fitted correctly, the stick on ones look good Are they legal though, especially if they are slightly undersize?

Thanks Chris - will get an under-sized one sorted....yes the rear is legal, I even replaced the illegal-font one that I got with the car for a proper fully legal one as I didn't want to be taking the piss at the back too. Mark - I've considered that, but someone else has tried it and ended up ripping off part of the nosecone.....
