I now have some information concerning a Car Show at Hylands House, Chelmsford on 20 June.
We have a very large area of grass to display our cars and, what was called "Boys' Toys" last year, has been re-named "Heart's Perfect Sunday", and is being sponsored by Heart FM.
The venue address is:
Hylands House,
London Road,
Chelmsford CM2 8WQ.
There will be no entrance charge for display cars, but they must be in place by 10.00 a.m. and should remain in place until 5.00 p.m., although there will be discretion for the cars to leave after 4.00 p.m. These timings are to restrict vehicle movement for health and safety reasons. It is requested that display cars arrive between 9 and 10 a.m., because after that they will have to pay on the gate. In this respect, for the public, cars booked in advance will be £5 per car, but, on the day, £8 per car.
Heart FM are promoting the charity "Have a Heart", and donations from participants will be gratefully received on the gate.
It is requested that four weeks before the event, i.e. 20th May, 2010, you provide the following details:
Driver's name
Car make and model
Car registration number
Because I will be overseas on that Sunday, so my Assistant Regional Organiser, Greg Thompson, will be taking over the organisation and I therefore request you to e-mail the above information to Greg at gt@feering6.fsnet.co.uk, with a copy to me martynmolyneaux@aol.com.
Either swing tickets to hang from the interior mirror or a letter, indicating that the car is on display, will be provided for each display car.
We are inviting all car clubs in our area and as well as displays by the clubs, various car distributors/dealers will be having displays.
Further, it is understood, as well as car clubs, motorcycle clubs will also be present. I am also told the following will be in attendance to provide interest and entertainment:
Essex Air Ambulance with their new helicopter
Essex Police with their cars and helicopter (and, possibly, dogs)
Chelmsford District of the IAM
Suffolk Punch horses providing carriage rides
Helicopter rides
Hovercrafts
Retailers
Fairground
Several fast food outlets, as well as the permanent cafe
Beer tent
Ice cream sellers
A repro Spitfire aeroplane
This promises to be a really great event and we aim to get five hundred plus cars of many different marques and interest to all petrol heads.
The event has enjoyed good weather since its inception, so, with fingers crossed, there is no reason for this year to be any different.
Wishing you all a wonderful day out,
Martyn
