Heat Exchanger

Checked out the heat exchanger on the car last night and the lever doesn't move the flapper boxes. I can shut one box manually in the mean time but one box just springs back open. I take it this means that I won't get any heat through? Is it easy to fix the cable if it ain't working?

Does the lever feel loose?

Maybe the cables have been dis-connected? You can see them underneath the boxes connected by fiddly nuts. They go back towards the bulkhead.

Is yours a UK rhd btw? If so maybe a bit different.

Be wary, if your exhaust system is leaking then you will get carbon monoxide in your cabin. Buy a detector from Halfords and check when you shut the flapper boxes. This maybe why someone dis-connected them

It is a UK RHD. I'll check out the cables at the weekend. I've bought a carbon monoxide detector so hopefully won't drop dead at the wheel. Cheers for that.
