Heat Exchangers for 965 Turbo

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone new where would be the best place to source a set of heat exchangers and a cross over pipe for my 965 Turbo apart from the obvious dealership option.

Cheers J

OEM heat exchangers are very expensive c. £1700, you can get them from most specialists.
If I needed to replace mine I'd go for 'headers' which cost similar (c.£2000) and add torque and power (30bhp?). Ninemiester do them in UK and in the US more choices.

PS. Jas, are you a new owner? Tell us more about your 965...

Welcome aboard !

Stephen Kaspar of www.imagineauto.com in the USA will fix you up with aftermarket heat exchangers. Don't be put off by the distance. They offer more bhp, better spool up of turbo and less weight just like Colin Beltons of 9M. Don't forget to notify your insurance company though of any mods.

To be honest I really want to stick with the OEM exchangers if possible and will try and contact the imagineauto.com guys once im back in the UK.

Well Im really just after a suitable replacement for the exchangers either a porsche part or something very close to it as I spoke to my insurance company and have been told that performance headers will increase my insurance by quite a bit .

Are they definitely different for the 3.6?

By the way, the OEM is Dansk so you may have luck searching via them.

The 3.6 engine is totally different than the 3.3.

I would get the aftermarket performance headers and pay the extra insurance. Oh wait, I did do that :)

I'm with Heritage / Norton insurance co. For all my mods I pay an extra 25% and am insured up to +100bhp.

Nathan,
You'll not be surprised to realise that I know the 3.3 and 3.6 are different engines!

I am however not aware whether the 3.3 and 3.6 require different headers, are you?

According to the UK Porsche PET the part number for both the 3.3 and the 3.6 heat exhangers are the same: 93021103302. It looks like the whole exhaust system is identical...

Ive been told by most specialist that they are different even by West London Porsche I will have to get under the car sumtime this week and get a exact part number off the exchanger to to verify with the parts guy.

I hope the systems are identical and once I get the part number off my exchangers i might be the bit wiser!

I just double checked PET, I agree that you need the same part no. for 3.3 or 3.6.

However, B&B clearly state a different part no. for their aftermarket solution & so does GHL (which is what I have).

There is one USA company GSF that offer headers (with or without heat) that can be used on all Porsche 911 turbo (1977 - 1994 ), 911 Carrera (1984 - 1989 ) 964 (1989 - 1994 ) 993 (1995 - 1998 ). Only $1200 too.
The actual flanges swivel round. Pretty good idea but I wonder if it seals up OK.

Mark, what I meant was that the 911 SC / 911 3.2 carrera engine has more in common with the 930 3.0 / 930 3.3 than the 3.3 does with the 3.6. It is a totally different engine whereas the SC is similar to the 930 3.0 & the 3.2 carrera is similar to the 930 3.3. I don't think everyone will know this.

I wonder when it was they rotated the studs on the exhaust side of the heads. Does anyone know if it was on the 964 3.6 or the 993 3.6 ?

Ordered the exchangers finally through a friend of mine who works at GSF car parts on special order so they should be here next week !! Thanks for the help Guys
