Heated rear window again!

Time for the annual fiddle with a non-working rear window demister! With the kind help of Ghost last evening (ta, Marcus) we feel the right hand tailgate strut may be at fault - at least the little sliding tab at the top of the strut seems to be the culprit. Any of you chaps had the same problem? Mine doesn't seem to want to make consistent contact with the strut to make the circuit, so I think a new strut may be in order... I take it it's a single unit rather than more than one part?

Cheers, Craig

Sorry to hear about your htd rr window if you change your struts would you let me know where n how much they are as I need a pair and pls tell me when fitted that they push the glass up on release by pressing the switch!!

Promax sell the correct tailgate struts that have the connections for HRW. I bought a pair recently and IIRC they were £15 each (can't find anything on their new website though [&:] or I'd post you a link)

Thanks for all previus replies. I got a strut from Promax at under £20 delivered, and all was well until I fitted it. Happy with my work, I tried the HRW switch, and unfortunately, nothing happened that I could tell. There was no voltage drop on the guage which I would normally expect, but as it was fairly warm when I tried I thought I would confirm it in the morning and see if it would do the job to clear any misting.

Unfortunately, I didn't get that far, as two minutes after walking inside, the alarm went off. I went back out, opened the car and checked the boot was properly closed, then plipped the locking and wnet inside, only for the alarm to sound again. Running out of patience and daylight, I just disconnected the HRW wires from the strut, intending to look again this weekend.

Electrics are not my forte, and this is foxing me. Why would the alarm go off (unless the boot light is connected somehow to the alarm operation? Advice please!

Cheers, Craig

As Paul has hinted at, the struts are sided and when either is incorrect - all manner of electrical problems arise. Which depend on the incorrect strut combination, but the HRW not working is common to all, I think.
