Heated rear window switch problem HELP!!!

Hi everyone

My heated rear window switch has started playing up recently. It's started turning on itself now and again. When I turn it off it switches back on after a few seconds. Sometimes it will stay off for a minute or so or sometimes stay off for the whole day. It's an intermitent problem. I first thought it might be the switch so I got a new one from OPC at a cost of £31, didn't solve the problem. It's driving me mad, anyone had the same problem. I've got a 1997 2.5 boxster with a rear glass screen conversion that was done 2 months ago.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I agree with John.

However, it could be the relay. On the relay carrier (above the fuse panel) it is the one in position 4 - on the top row, 4th from the left. Part number 996.615.117.00

Hi

Thanks for the advice, I can't see how the conversion would affect it. Something is tripping the switch to come on and I don't think the connections on to the rear window would do that. Do you think it could be the relay at fault that could be switching it on anf off. It has been ok for a couple of days and then driving home tonight in the wet from work it stayed on, everytime I went to switch it off it would come on again. The longest it stayed off was 30 seconds, its driving me mad. I've never heard anything like this happen with a car that I've owned. I hope it is the relay otherwise it could be one of those problems that takes ages to sort out with loads of labour hours spent on it at great cost.
