Heated seats - were they an option?

"Her indoors" had a right moan today when i picked her up in the cab because, and i quote, "this bloody leather seat is freezing!".
Anyone know if heated seats have ever been available on '44's?

IMO, one of the nicest options you can have on any car[8D].

This winter, in particular, they have been brilliant, warming up much more quickly than the cars' heater. In fact I prefer to run the cabin quite cool and the seat comfortably warm. Most women adore them and my wife now judges any car by the quality of the heated seats[&:].

they most certainly have, lucky to have them on my '90 turbo
That's interesting.
What's the setup with them?Is there an additional switch/button on the side of the seat or do you activate them on the console/dash.

There's a little switch to turn them on and off down by the seat adjusters, and a roller switch to change the temperature.
They're actually really effective. Does anyone know if this was quite a rare option?

I think my '86 Turbo had them. Certainly only one of 7 Porkers for me had heated seats, and it was a 944. I looked at fitting them to the cab, but we stopped at £160 for one blanket (there are 4) as there was a lot of other gubbins too. I think that if you get a used set of seats with heating they will just plug in and work if you want to retro-fit them.

From my 1991 price list

"Heated seat with temperature adjustment £231.67"

So I guess thats less than £500 the pair, not too bad a price by Porsche standards.

Heated Front Seats (2) - £295

Might be esier to find seats from a later 911 such as a 996 that are probably alot more common that 944 heated seats. I presume 996 seats would fit straight onto a 944's seat rails?

I don't believe they do. Nor Boxster ones. Have you seen the seats in a 996? I'd rather have a 944 sport seat any day and twice on Sundays.

Option 139 - Heated Seat Left
Option 340 - Heated Seat Right.

Combined with option 383 & 387 (Sports Seats) they make a very comfy & toasty fit!. Didn't think they were that rare, but all the more happier that they are!

To be honest, I'm suprise that there are different grades of electric seats - i.e mine have up/down, but not forward/back.

Should have mentioned that on recent removal of mine, they have two connectors on the bottom - I'd assumed one for electrics, and one for heat, but am prepared to be wrong!!

You might well be right about connectors, Carl. The driver's has a connector for electric adjustment and another for the seatbelt light - that isn't what you have?

Your right - you've made me remember that the passenger side only has one connector. it's a big bolck with numerous pins that slot together, so I guess some of these pins are for the heated part.
