Heated wing mirrors not working

Hi all, just a quick question, my heated wing/door mirrors do not defrost.
I assume all late model (1985.5) 944's have them and again I believe they are activated by putting on the rear window heater. But my rear window does not heat up and I thought that might be to do with the heating elements looking a bit worn but as the wing mirrors do not de-mist as well could ot be something more like a fuse or relay.
The light comes on when the switch is pressed but no sweet heat to be had.
What do you guys think

the power for the rear window,

starts at the connection on the left of the rear hatch, at the bottom of the strut, then runs through that strut, then through the glass, then down the RH strut, to ground on the ball joint connector on the body that the strut connects too.

If you can measure 12v at any point across there, the ground at the end is not working or you have a break in the wiring or the struts are not connecting properly

Thank you guys.
I have not used one before but will be borrowing one tomorrow and having a look this weekend, would the wing mirrors be affected even if the rear window does not work.
Mind you to get any of them working before winter gets ready bad would be a bonus.

there is a relay for the rear window and a fuse, pop the lid off your fusebox and look inside the lid, that will tell which is which
According to PET its relay G3, part number 928.615.203.01 @ £95.04 Inc Vat

ok so I had a friend help me and yes there is a current on both sides of the rear window but when we looked in the fuse box we noticed that the fuse was blown so we put another fuse in and that went straight away so I'm guessing I have a short somewhere.
Any one know of a common things to investigate.

One of the mirror connectors is shorting put
thd only way is to take one off at a time and keep blowing fuses till you discover the issue

Thanks that's brilliant, as I understand it I need to used a flat head screwdriver to move a round clip that holds the mirror in place.
Hopefully that will show up some answers

Are they flag mirrors
rotate the mirror so the base is exposed, you should see a little plug that needs pinging out to get to the Allen bolt that holds the mirror on
