Heater and fan all gone wrong today

Today both my heater and fan started playing up, I've done a search but can't find anything concrete.
The fan only works on number4 so I guess the fan speed resistor has failed, if I remember rightly they fail all the way out?? Does anyone have a spare or know the cost of a new one?
Also I only get warm air out of the vents even with the aircon on. So will this be the little clip on the flap in the passenger foot well?
Odd how this all happened today.

I have a spare resistor if you want it. PM me. The heater valve in the engine bay will be open (hot) when no vacuum is applied to it, you may have a vac leak - check the hoses.

Mine both went recently as well. [&o]

Resistor might just want a spray of contact cleaner to fix it. The little clip is less than a quid from a PC, and otrher than replacing the fuse for the glovebox light if you forgot to pull it first is an easy job. Make sure you get both the plastic and metal clips.

Cheers guys.

The vac hose valve thing down the back of the engine was fine and working well.

Its the white plastic clip thats snapped, but I dont see how the metal clip works???
I have a half snapped clip still stuck in the leaver and a rod hanging down, does the metal clip hold the rod to plastic bit? Because it looks like the white clip holds it on its own......

Also anyone know the differance between a 89 and 90 fan resistor and why one is £20 and the other £120?

ts the white plastic clip thats snapped, but I dont see how the metal clip works???

White clip goes through the hole, round the rod and the metal clip slides on to hold the rod in to the plastic clip.

I have to remove the resistor and spray with contact cleaner occasionally, just don't use WD40 as it fills the cabin with smoke!
(don't ask me how I know [])

When I changed my matrix I had the same problem as Fat Albert. I took the 4 plug connector off the top, sprayed switch cleaner onto it and refitted. Worked fine again :).
