Hi all,now coming to the end of a winter re-build and would like some info from currant s2 owners,The car is sill on axle stands and no exhaust checked out the switches etc and the heater blower works on speed 4 and demist but does not run on speed 1,2,and 3, the car has climate control(not full air-con) my wife insists that the blower came on and off automatically when we tested this car back in october but I cannot remember, the wiring diagram show a direct feed to speed 4 but the other speeds look as if they go through a control unit, can someone explain the working of the blower fan please, many thanks,John..

This is often if not always caused by a faulty resistor pack - it's located below the plastic cover behind the firewall, under the hood.
The pack is the rectangular piece of plastic with two screws.
I had this problem but in my case cleaning the lightly corroded connections proved sucessful and I did not need to replace the pack.

Thanks Thom, so the blower fan should run on all speed settings and I do have a fault, this cover is the one that covers the blower unit under the bonnet,I shal have to find this resistor pack, many thanks John.

Yes, the pack is on the top left of the blower unit.
By the way, you might not have noticed but while your blower runs on position 4 it may also be running on position 0.

This is the little blighter:
