Heater controls illumination

Does anyone know what type of bulbs and how many there are in the heating/ventilation controls. Any clues on how to access them? Thank you Tim

Hello Tim,
If it is the dash controls it looks like 12v 1.2w, Part No: 900 631 132 90, and on the Porsche PET site: http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/originalparts/en/E_911_89_KATALOG.pdf
Pelican Forum covered replacing these bulbs: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/728564-how-replace-bulbs-behind-air-directional-levers-middle-dash.html
If it's the heating unit between the seats I've had mine apart but not for access to the bulb. I think it will be a matter of unscrewing from the floor and removing items from within until you get to the bulb and reassemble in reverse order.
If you Google the part no. you will find a number of sites showing the bulb type.
Hope this helps.
Steve

Steve, thanks for the reply and thanks for the parts catalogue link. I am now thinking my bulbs are OK as the catalogue advises there are just 2 bulbs. I have the fresh air fan symbol (top right)illuminated when ever the fan is on (even if the lights are off) and defrost symbols (top left and lower right)illuminate with lights on but there is no illumination to show the positions of the levers- do you know if this is normal? Thank you

Marvellous, that's one job I can tick off the list! I suppose that not being able to see where the levers are is OK as I don't know where they should be for any particular heat or vent requirement anyway!

I know what you mean. It took me ages to work it out, and even now it still isn't intuitive. Mine has aircon, which makes it even worse. I found this really useful: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/fb.asp?m=725493

If you haven't got aircon, Porsche do a sticker with the basic setting, which can be stuck on the glove box lid or sun visor. It only costs a couple of quid. Part number 911.701.171.00.
