Heater Controls

Would someone please give me my sanity back !!!

As a newbie to 3.2 ownership, the recent warm weather has created me some angst in relation to turning the bloody heat off in the cabin. I have managed to stop my feet from melting, only to redirect the heat to the windscreen. No amount of fiddling will stop the heat.

I recall articles and comments previously saying the heating system is renound for being odd..... are there any tips or something that I will be doing wrong. I have tried all manner of combination of the heater controls and the switch between the seats.

The car is a 1989 911 coupe for the record.

Thanks
Lee

PS I fully anticipate the heater to blow only freezing cold in the winter !!!

Lee - I'll pretty much go along with SP_CS on this one, except I had the opposite problem, couldn't get any heat, on the drivers side!

Springs were fine, although I bought replacements in case, but one of the control cables had broken, so 'dump valve' wouldn't close! Could be the same problem with yours, but a case of the valve not opening.

Best bet is to get car on pit or ramp turn ignition on heater control to zero flaps on heater valves should be open ( holes lined up) heater control on max holes closed adjustment is just a matter of tensioning or loosening the cables. Have just put new valves on my SC what a difference no burning feet in the off position.

Hi Bob. Not much help but I can tell you that you need a different hand brake assembly (early style) that has the levers attached to the rear of it. As to how you get all the electrical gubbins working I have no idea.

Found handbrake and lever assembly on us ebay all fitted and running had to fit new heater cables as the old ones were joined together so the servo thingamy crap could pull them but it did,nt old levers that i,ve fitted have micro switches fitted and turn the blower motor on all very simple but with the cold whether took me all christmas and new year to finish (old and cold)
