Heater/Fan/Thermostat - Help

Any ideas on this?

I have a non aircon car. If I set the temperature to max and have the blower control on low then I get a reasonable amount of warm air out. If I turn the blower up further there is no increase in the amount of hot air coming out.

If I turn the temperature down and then increase the blower speed I get large quantities of cool air coming out.

Does not sound like a motor problem - is there a thermostat switch somewhere that's broken? Is it relatively straightforward to obtain a new one and replace (just about managed HiDS conversion but that stretched mechanical abilities and I don't want to end up with a boxful of trim that won't go back in place). if it's at all complicated might just send back to Tony Wright at Wrightune who deals very well with all the other issues.

Any assistance gratefully received.

Michael

The cabin thermostat is located in the heating central control unit (CCU). A small fan draws air through a grill and over a sensor. This becomes obstructed with fluff, as many on here have found, causing the symptoms you have described. The fix is to pull out the CCU and clear the fluff. This is a five minute job that seems to need doing every 50,000 miles or so.
