Heater lever controls 'upgrade'

Hi all

After having a weekend playing with my flaps (sorry), I wondered whether it may be beneficial to upgrade my heater control box between the front seats to the older and apparently more effective (?) old style levers.

1 quick question - I assume that there are 2 levers - one for each flapper box - hence will that mean that the heat in the cabin can be tailored to your indiv needs ie the driver can be nice and cool and the passenger nice and toasty if necessary?

Has anybody done this and if so is it an easy job?

In my history of 1 SC/2 3.2, I have never had any problems with the automatic heating.
It gets hotter if you hammer it, especially with the supercharger (great on cold mornings, when you want a blast of hot air), but by and large it automatically heats the cabin to the temperature that I want, with no interference from me.

Having said that, there have been times when I drive in a tee shirt (my normal, relaxed driving style), and 'er indoors is wearing her faux fur coat, and a car blanket, so maybe I am odd.
 
I haven't got a problem with the actual heating - I just wondered if anyone had replaced their heater control box with the old style leavers and any issues they encountered when doing it.

check on pelican, its a common replacement over in the states.
What is wrong with your heater? Details?
 
if your were to change to the older style levers you would have to fit a switch to make the two blower motors in the front foot wells come on.

I don't have any problems with the heating system (apart from the fact that I haven't got the engine heater blower due to space restrictions due to the 993 engine) I was just curious about changing to the leavers style instead of the electronic box between the seats. I'll have a search on Pelican - cheers!!
 
Sorry for the late responce on this one. I converted mine to the old style, partly on a mad save weight mission (also taken out the electric windows and air con), and partly because I use to own a 1971 911 and got use to it. Its straight forward enough but as another respondant mentioned you need to rig a seperate switch for your blowers. Get an old set of levers/handbrake, discard the choke lever and order a new rubber boot and lever knobs from Porsche (yes they are still avalible and not expensive). Be carew ful as I think some 70's models only had one lever I think.
