Heater not working?

Basically blowers will only work when temp knob is set to maximum cold - ie if it's on and I turn heater knob up towards max heat blowers turn off!? So it only works on maximum cold.

Car is 1990 Targa no air-con.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Piers

Piers,

Sure sign that the rear blower is not functioning. Likely to be a blown fuse (rear panel - replace with 30amp part) or dodgy relay (swap with oil cooler blower relay in front fuse/relay box to check).

If you turn the temp selector towards the red dot with the ignition on and blower speed set to 0 you should be able to hear the rear blower start up on slow speed. If it doesn't you've isolated the problem.

Regards

Dave

Yes, Dave's suggestion should do it. Same happened to mine which had the original 25 amp fuse fitted and was later upgraded to 30 amp. You might even find there is already a spare one inside the cover when you remove it.
