Hi,

My 1995 C2 coupe suddenly decided to blow HOT air thru the vents, even though the controls were set at ZERO. This would be ok, but it was a rather hot weekend in France!!

The temperature control button no longer seems to work.

Anyone help or have any views?

I fear a costly trip to Parr is looming!

Thanks

Is the continuous hot air on one side of the vehicle or on both ? If it is just one side, it could be one of your hot/cold air mixer control servo motors is stuck on hot. They are located under the plastic cover in the front scuttle area. It is quite easy to identify the correct box, (it'll be the one that dosn't move when you turn the heater control) open it up, clean the contacts, and put it back. I had this problem on my 964, the hot/cold mixer control box for the passengers side was full of leaked aircon oil, and just needed a clean. Hopefully that is all it is.

If the fault is common to both sides, that could mean climate control CCU problems, and it's best to plug in the diagnostics to take things further.

If it's the servo the contacts could be burned out, in which case no amount of cleaning will cure it [;)]. However, you can manually close the flap until you can convince the wife that you really do need to spnd £120 on a glorified 12 volt electric motor, so at least you wont get frazzled in the current weather.

You should be able to hear the motors turning if you turn the ignition on and move the temp dial from min to max and vice versa. The right and left valves are situated just forward of the respective doors on the outside of the footwells. It's a really easy fix once you get over the price of the parts. The climate control unit is somewhat more expensive even second hand - if you do need one make sure you get then correct version as, believe it or not, the one for a right hand drive is handed compared to the left hand drive car.

Right.... a trip down to Parr confirmed that on eof the electric motors has stopped working and the valve is permanently open.

... i am biting the bullet and they will fix it... gulp!
