heater stuck on hot

I have this heated issue and it's not uncommon, I believe.. I have checked the control valve under the bonnet and it holds a vacuum on my finger with the vacuum tube disconnected so I don't think it's that. There is no air being drawn over the interior temp sensor. What should be the next thing to check..?
 
There's a little rod in a connection in the glove box that breaks I believe. Worth a look.
