Just thought id give something back to the forum,
I took the heater and vent controls out yesterday as they seemed to be really stiff and the fan wasnt comming on every time.
1 Stripped down the assembly totaly beong carful not to lose the lock washer when removinng.
2 Cleaned all the slider pins with a small screwdriver and all the channels which were gunked uo with all sorts of dirt.
3 on the fan contacts the top slider i cleaned up all the electrical contacts with electrical cleaner and smeared a bit of copper grease on the two touching terminals (please not be careful to do this so as not to bridge the contacts)
4 Sprayed all the channels and joints with White lithium grease
5 Put it all back together remembering which way up the sliders go
6 go back to the car and sprayed wd40 down the cable tubes that pul the vents open and closed
7 finally put all the centre consol back and hey presto the sliders dont stick and the fan comes on when it should now
i hope this can help some people with any dodgy sliders
