Heating Stuck On

Hi

The heating is stuck on on my 964 RS. It is becoming a bit of a bore in the summer - especially when it rains and I have to close the windows and turn on the front screen demister!

Anyone got any ideas. My garage are just going to disconnect the motors to stop the hot air but they haven't worked out if it is the motors yet (£175 each) or the main control unit (£1100!!!!). I did read something about some electronic relays that go or something??

Does anyone have any ideas

Thanks[]

David,

There are lots of possibilities here but it needs a little more diagnostic work to figure out where the problem lies.

The most common problem on the 964 heating is that the cardboard (my best desription) tubes in the sides of the footwell disintegrate after a time and deposit bucket loads of hot air into the footwell. It's nothing to do with fans or control units - it's as simple as a hole in a tube. The tubes are less that £10 each.

If the tubes aren't the problem tell us if the fans operate according to the rotary switch? Check the operation of the 5 servo motors at the back of the kuggage compartment. Does the rear blower operate correctly??

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave

I have looked at John's site and it seems to cover things. I will get my spanners out!

I have just disconnected the servo's at the mo from the valves to get cold air only in the car.

Wish me luck!

David
