Heavy clutch pedal

My son has a 2003 Boxster S and the pedal feels heavier than on my Cayman S, I suspect that the boost spring is not providing the normal level of assistance, does anyone know if this is a common problem? Other options are a problem with the master sylinder or a binding spline on the friction plate.
 
The clutch on my S is quite heavy. Although, I'm used to it. Had the car over 18 months now and it's always been the same.

I wondered about the boost spring too. Did a search on the forum. Plenty of clutch comments but couldn't see anything specific about the boost spring. I have to say, if I thought it would ease it a bit, I would change it. Don't feel the need to do anything else though. It works just fine otherwise.

I was going to say the same thing as Mark. I have 67,000 miles on the original clutch and my left leg sure gets a workout. Was not like that when I first bought the car.

When I try the clutch on a car with less miles or a new car I feel as though I could push the clutch pedal down with a finger, compared to my car.

Should try another Boxster with about the same miles as your son's and see how it feels.
 
His car has only 21000 miles on it so it shouldn't be worn much, the drag when it is depressed varies slightly in the pressure which makes me suspect the boost spring as the first item to be checked.

But the engine is due to come out as its got a slight head gasket leak which at this mileage and age seems suspect. Head gaskets can be effected by block or head casting faults.

Tool Pants, how accessable is the boost spring? Actually, I don't know why I ask. If it were worth changing I guess you would have done it on your car! [&:]
