Overall feedback after having the cage fitted is that the car now feels a lot stiffer and there is no body flex at all at the rear. I wish I had done this last year and am now really looking forward to Spa and testing it out.

Looks good.

One totally unrelated subject (sorry for hijack!) is your crutch straps through the seats. How are they attached to the floor. I only have a 4 part harness but the buckle has the capability to insert a crutch strap. Any ideas?

Simon

The crutch straps are mounted to an eye bolt that is screwed to the floorpan as there is a mounting point for it already in the shell.

To mount the passenger straps we had to move the ECU back a couple of inches, but I would assume this would be the drivers side on a LHD car.

Aaaaargh!! All that red.....his Extremeship will like that....SIMON!! :-<

Verra nice, BTW...[;)]

Hi Ollie. Lookng good. Who did the wheel refurb and do you mind sharing how much they charged? Was it through Autofarm?

Thanks

Very red is an understatement, but with a cat by-pass and cup pipe the car is not what they call subtle anyway [;)]

Yoda, the wheels were done through Autofarm although I think they send them out to Jasmine to do, don't know about straightening them though, again all done through Autofarm. Cost including straightening was £135 per wheel, which for the quality of work I think is a great deal.

Cage is a steel one rather than alloy so I have been told it is MSA approved and I have a bunch of conformity documents in with the user guide somewhere. I think is weighs about 16Kgs rather than about 11Kgs for the alloy version but I have heard a few stories of alloy cages developing weak spots after being hit with something sharp.

.......cat by-pass and cup pipe.........

You giving up track days then????[;)]

I did the last PCGB one at Donnington and can only assume that she is still under the limit (drive by or static) as I had no problems then and there were some much louder cars there.

Would imagine I would struggle on some of the circuits that operate a 98dB limit though.

Good excuse to have to travel to European track events if I can't do them here in the UK, but don't tell the wife [;)]

Ollie

I cannot imagine a better spec 64RS. The wheel is on the correct side, the colour is spot on, good cage and the decat and cup pipe is the way to go. Our cars could almost be twins[:D]

Certainly looks good Ollie, apart from the offset steering wheel Simons absolutely right!

One question tho', do the MSA accept the cage without it being bolted vertically to the sill box section?

Tony

Hi Tony

Don't know the answer to that one, but the cage is bolted in horizontally on the sills using the original mounting point for the seat belts.

I will have a read through all the paperwork and see if there is any info in that.

Hi Ollie,
Nice pictures! I've recently had the same cage installed, and I'm not looking at harness options.
How are the lap straps of your harnesses secured? I'm curious as to how the inside straps are attached as there seems to be very little space between the seat and tunnel.

I'm guessing that when Porsche put the tunnel fixing in they had a bolt in fixing in mind(similar to what's on the 3 point lap n diagonal belts ) rather than an eyebolt the other fixings in the original set up would then have been connected to the roll bar, so only the lap fixings were required which could have both been bolt in rather than eye bolt. The problem with this of course is that most belts are eye bolt fixed and the back fixings need eyebolts and afaik you can't buy mixed fixing belts! my car has an eyebolt on the seat frame just under the one for the normal seat belt which solves the problem.
