Have you been given a delivery date? After your experiences with trying to get a GT3 what odds are you giving on it arriving on time ?

Tim

Think you might struggle to get a confirmed delivery date on a car that does not officially exist (since it has not yet been announced).

You are semi correct ... It has been announced to the OPC's hence I was offered a firm delivery date of January 2005 if I placed an order by the launch date September 04....... [;)]

My wife ordered one, for delivery March/April 2005, last month. £2000 deposit.

I ordered one for March delivery 2005 and my OPC said no deposit required by PCGB at this moment in time!! Once car is launched in September 2004 I will then have to part with some money but can comfortably wait until demo time in November before finally committing all the way [8D]

As an ex boxster owner I have not really followed the progress of this new model, what are the changes ? same interior as 997 ? door mirrors and handles etc ? and what's the latest on the lights ? More power ?

Be interested to hear .............

Regards

tispkj,

There has been a lot of discussion/pictures/etc here on the board here over the last few months.
You should be able to find the info fairly quickly. Daro911 has posted a lot of details. Look for threads with "MY05" or "05 details" as well as "987" and you should be able to find lots of speculation and rumour (plus photos[;)])

Nothings certain until Sept when Porsche will announce the new model (although they can change their minds, and not announce after all!)

It's interesting how different the deposits are that various OPCs require. I was informed on Saturday that I could add my name to the list, but would be required to put down a deposit of £3k. It would be non-refundable, but fully transferable if the 987 turned into the ugly duckling. I suppose if you part with 10% (ish) now, then it's 10% less to part with later on.

In actual fact they refused to take my money (not that I offered), but they said that they will only put my name down for one if I am sure about it. (Fair enough).

I carefully phrased the question, so that there was no mistake:

Q) "So that's a £3k refundable deposit if I don't like 987 when it's released?"

A) "No, it's non-refundable, but fully transferable to any other vehicle from us"

Tony,

Run away very fast!

That is unbelievable!

Trasferable to what?! I for one would not want anything OTHER than a Boxster if that is what I was ordering. The 997 does not meet my needs. I would need a step ladder to get into the Cayenne (and dark glasses, a change of identity, and a false nose and moustache).

Name the dealer. I want to know who to avoid! []

Tony ... I have not been asked to part with a single penny to date and was told this is BECAUSE PCGB are not taking official orders/deposits from their dealers at the current time as the car doesn't have a final specification or price to name just 2 key points any serious buyer would need to know before writing there cheque.

How can your OPC take a non refundable deposit for a car they can't even confirm an exact OTR price for! yet alone much else at this moment in time []

A deposit at this stage is definitely refundable. I would be wary of anyone who says otherwise.

However, initial allocation is likely to be tight, so OPCs will want a deposit if they are to allocate a built slot (albeit provisional). Also, if I wanted a particular model at a particular time, I'd rather have the formality of paying a deposit and signing an order form rather than just being on a dealer's informal waiting list.

Helen's on holiday at the moment - i'm sure she can fill us in on the gory details when she gets back.

[:)]

To be fair to them, the deposit would be to add my name to the list and be given a build slot. On the other hand though, their predecesor (Arlington Northampton), only asked 1k deposit.
I was told that some OPCs were not taking deposits, but they were also not giving build slots so in effect you hadn't actually ordered one.

Mine was ordered as soon as new model announced - no deposit necessary at our OPC - they must trust me! Over 18 months ago!

Waiting to fill in spec. when delivery announced from factory. Will collect from Germany this time round.

[:D][:D]
WhenI orderd my first one they wanted £1000(986)
then10%when I speced it[:-]

my second(986) was no deposit until
1 month before car arrived the £1000 dep[8|]

my third (cayenne) no deposit at all
car is expected in august[8D]

my 4th (987) ordered august 03 no deposit but!! my dealer says[&o]
"£1000 will be requested shortly to sort out the men from the boys."[&o]

Nottingham opc are just making a list of interested people so no deposit is needed as yet.they will be asking the people on the list for a £3.000 deposit once the car is officially announce.

Sutton Coldfield required £1.000 deposit now (to hopefully weedle out the time wasters)to get my name down and a further £2.000 once the car is offically released.

BTW all deposits are now fully refundable. see cause 6b of your official Porsche sale agreement. i went through this with a fine tooth comb when i had the problem getting the GT3.

as yet i have not been given a build slot.

and untill the car is officially announced i can't see how an OPC can promise one. in my experience build dates are a fantasy (totally un-reliable)anyway.
