A chap was selling what sounded like a very nice Turbo (not cab) here: http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=563420&mpage=1&key= It I was looking I'd start with that. Or persuade DivineE to put his back on the market ;) - see a few threads down ETA - if you are willing to pay top dollar, go and have a look at the fully reconditioned 944 that RPM Technik are selling. It isnt a Turbo but has a 968 engine and drives like a new car. They are asking £15k so it isn't cheap but everything has been sorted on it so it should cost you nothing for a year or two.

Not really been on since I sold my Boxter but after my 350z was sold today I'm thinking once again about a porsche, hopefully a 944 turbo (which was original plan before a few beers and ebay !!!!).

In a perfect world I'm looking for a turbo carbriolet but they dont seem to come up very often. Not really had a look to see whats out there yet but would appreciate the heads up if you know of any good ones out there.

Would really prefer to buy a "known" car if possible from a club member

Ta

Thanks for that - remember this car from when I was looking last year. The last two cars Ive bought I have compromised slightly in waht I was looking for and ended up selling them on pretty quickly to have decided to take my time (stay off ebay after a few drinks !!!!) and be fussy. This one is not right colour for me (fussy I know) 'Im looking for blue, black, red or white. I really have to stay off ebay - just noticed a red boxster in my price range ending soon thats ben looked after by Brian Miller think I will o take dog for a long walk lol

Turbo cabs are very rare (less than 150 made RHD iirc) and command a premium over the coupe even though they are dynamically compromised to a degree by having the roof lopped off of course.

these are 2 I would strongly consider if i was looking....as they both appear like cracking well preserved examples..not the cheapest but you usually get what you pay for.....no affiliation to the sellers. Thanks I realised they were rare but that's very rare. As said the cab would be in an ideal world but looking at both cabs and coupes

ORIGINAL: bennyboy Hi Ewan, are you looking for a standard car or one that has been fairly 'improved'?
I wouldn't mind impovments or upgrades that make car more reliable or drivable and were well done if that makes sense ?

Only asking questions [;)] the plan this time (I hope) is to find out more about a few cars and draw up a shortlist, but you know what is like when the cash is sitting in the bank wiating to be spent. I did manage to resit the ebay boxster this time

Speaking as the owner of the rare turbo cab (just ticked over to 41,000 miles on the way back form the worker's conference last week) I can say that you will not miss the grunt of the 350z as the Turbo has enough of its own to keep a 350z behind up going up a long hill. Ask me how I know? You will not be surprised to hear that the hood frame squeaks and rattles, and the over the shoulder glance to the right has to turn into a determined peer through the driver window. Everybody wants to race you worse than you can imagine including twits in people carriers with bikes on the roof like this morning. Bog standard it will digest rather than eat Honda S2000s but is a pure joy to be able to flip the roof open, (unfotunately this has to be accomplished at a standstill) when it is sunny. Pays your money takes your choice

Mine popped over 72K today and I am really enjoying it, haven't noticed rattles or creaks from my hood, is that roof up or down 924nutter? must admit I haven't done many miles roof up. And on the subject of lost roof strength, been meaning to take some photos of the differences between the cab and coupe, the cab has a double floor - the lower floor is level with the bottom of the plastic trim strips - and lots of extra bits in the sills. Not sure what else they did. Tony

Nothing to do with me but spotted this advert today (2nd car down): http://www.mikesatur.com/acatalog/Cars_for_Sale.html
