Wow that's shiny [:D]

I think mine looked like that in the summer. At the moment it's just grimy (and probably covered in frost which I'll have to scrape off before I go home too)[]

Nice S2. And I love the Mk1 'Scort.

I'm finding my Mk2 GTI a bit too sensible for every day and, having ruled out a 924 on the grounds of fuel consumption I'm now thinking Mk1 Escort or Anglia 105E with a 2 litre Zetec conversion.

My first car was a Mk1 Escort 1.3 base model with wide arches and Lotus steel wheels and I have always wanted a yellow Mex...

You know it makes sense Fen - I know where there's a concours Mk1 RS2000 (yellow) going at the moment if you're interested [;)]

Here's my Mex at Croft in July (but I've sold this one already) [:D]

Very nice.

Unless your mate fancies a straight swap for a totally standard 1990 8V GTI then I'm going to have to decline unfortunately. If he's had enough eggnog to go for it though, I'd take his arm off!

How much is a concourse Mk1 RS2000 worth these days? I saw someone on Scoobynet talking £10k.

I actually really fancy an Anglebox - I've had 3 Mk1 and 2 Mk2 Escorts and always wanted an Anglia. I was all set to buy a 105E once until the owner resprayed it [&o] before I sold my Escort (I ended up with an A Series Manta instead). To be fair I've never had an RS of any flavour and I wanted one of them too... I'm slightly cautious on the Anglia because they would need so much modification to use every day, whereas a Mex already has a decent sized engine in there, discs etc. Anyhow I have a 944 Turbo in bits to get sorted before I go spending cash on old Ford tin.

Yeah, you're looking at 8-10k at the moment for a proper example !!!

Sorry to do this to you Fen but, just as encouragement, here's an Anglia that one of the lads is on with. I think it looks awesome [:D]

That's exactly the look: lowered with Superlights (or maybe just Lotus steels with hubcaps) and with all the chrome and in an original colour like Seafoam...

What's under the bonnet in that one?

Fen, just calm down [8D] I thought you had already ruled out the 924 because of it's fuel consumption, I am pretty sure that beastie above would not be in the 40 mpg area []

I'll tell you what, I'll swap my daily hack Metro Gti for your Golf Gti [;)]

I had a Mk2 1600 Sport with a crossflow pretty much that spec. Lovely sound. I even kinda liked the coughing a squeaking it did when it wasn't quite set up right.

Metro for Golf, erm..... no, I think I'll pass thanks.

If I go for an Anglebox it will have to have a Zetec to keep things reliable and economical.

Yeah a Zetec would be good. One of the lads is currently building one with a Duratec engine in which should be spot on as well.

I am a bit slow on the uptake here, but welcome to our humble forum and I hope you enjoy you S2, one word of warning, watch out for black ice!!! (I hear a laugh from Mr Smith there!!)

Regards

Phil

I take it he's the one charting the build on a web site?
