Hello all

I'm a complete newbie and I just had a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer them (I have read through the threads)

I've put my 2 grand initial deposit for the 2.7 to be delivered in March. Is this a realistic delivery date (the prev dealers tended to say round May/ June)? It's with the Park Lane dealership - does anyone have views on them/ is there any difference between dealers (inc unofficial ones) other than how friendly they are? Also once I sign the receipt for the deposit they posted me does it all become fixed and non-refundable?

The last topic I'd like to ask is about the sound system/ PCM. Has anyone tried having the radio changed (I'd like one that has DAB and connections for an iPod)? A sat nav with DVD-video playback would be nice. Anyone know a place that would do this and would it affect the warranty? I was thinking of getting the Bose Sound System (as music is quite important to me); does this make sense (as it seems to be a safe compromise between basic speakers and having someone drill holes to customise new speaker fixtures) and will it connect to a new radio (re: MOST + the feedback mic)?

I'm due to put in my final specs in a couple of weeks and am quite nervous/ excited as I'm only 25 and not loaded...

MANY THANKS!

Hi and welcome!

I'd just like to add my personal twopenneth too.

Whatever you do, you'll need some sort of sound pack upgrade. The standard speaker system is - in my opinion - somewhat lacking.

The Porsche sound pack is lovely and really makes a difference. I've now heard the Bose and think that it sounds fantastic but you will lose the small amount of 'parcel shelf' space if you have it as the large bass speaker takes up that particular area.

Personally i'd go for the Bose. I'll bet the waiting is excrutiating.

I don't know much about the neew model, but if the last one was anything to go by, you must have some sort of sound up-grade from the basic. If you don't, you loose out on having decent door trim. (No speaker housings for later upgrades).

Thanks for the replies!

It's hard thinking about the options when you can't actually see the car. It is indeed excruciating and the thinking about upgrading the speakers was largely to do with the fixtures. I wish there was an option just to leave the speaker brackets and radio slot empty (would make life a lot easier). I read about this place - prestige-audio.co.uk. Apparently they might be able to help me out.

Cheers again
S

PS About the cost of the Boxster - I think the cost of depreciation + servicing should be about £5-6000/year so that's how I justify it to myself.
