Hello & Few Newbie Questions

Hi all,

I have recently become the proud owner of a 944 Lux which has been sat in dry storage for about 2 - 3 years.

It has just had an MOT which it went through with a couple of minor things and 2x advisories on wheel bearings.

After looking through the Forum my next step looks to be getting the cam & balance belts changed, so is there a local specialist that anyone can recommend.

I also had a mishap with the rear glass after trying to remove the wiper motor - I am still getting over the gutted feeling [:)][:)][:)]

Hopefully I might have that sorted through the Forum depending on whether I can get a replacement glass fitted to my frame.

I can't wait to get driving, but because she has been sat idle for so long I don't want to risk causing any damage - is there anything else that I need to check ?

All help gratefully received.

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I'll look forward to seeing you at a regional meeting or event if you can make it - we could do with a few more 944s!

The two independant specialists I usually suggest in our region are Tim O'Dowd - Marque21 in Bridport, and Jon Mitchell in Christchurch. Both use the official Porsche tool for tensioning the belts on a 944, and really know what they are doing.

Best regards,

Tref.

Hi Tref,

Thanks for the reply.

Bridport is closest so will give Tim a call.

Might see you this week when found out if glass can be fitted to my frame.

Cheers, Jeff

Off to see Marque 21 at the end of this week for an oil & filter change and a check over (the car - not me!)

Will give it a run over to the region meeting on Sept 17th which will be the furthest its been in 3 years.

Got my official "Welcome to the Porsche Club" pack today.

Managed to find a complete tailgate with spoiler locally. It's a bit rough but will do for the time being - so if anyone comes accross a nice tidy one over the next six months, please let me know.

Thanks for the couple of offers of "glass only" but due to my track record I don't think this is a good idea [:D][:D]

Just a couple more questions:

My electric aerial has seized solid - will I have any problems fitting an aftermarket one or am I better off getting a s/h Porsche one ?

Is anyone going up to Castle Combe at the end of October for the track day. And if so, do you have a spare passenger seat for a couple of laps. I have my own Sparco helmet (and suit if required) as I navigate for a couple of Rally Teams.
I would like to take my 944 around maybe next year, but it would be ideal to sit next to someone to see how they go around.

Thanks, Jeff

I would try repeating some of your questions in other sections of this forum e.g. 944, Members Wanted and Track Days.
