Hello from new (very excited) 996 owner

Just a brief message to say hello to you all. I have just recently got my first 911 - a Porsche 996 C2 Carrera Turquoise with GT3 Aerokit and haven't stopped smiling yet!! It's good to read people with similar vehicles discussing all the things I have bored everyone else I know with in the last 15 days since I got it!! Haven't had time yet to take pictures although if you've seen the car you won't forget it - the colour seems to generate a 'marmite' reaction in people - you love it or hate it, either way it seems to attract attention (or is it just my overly proud imagination). Not really sure exactly what it is - I have documents calling it turquoise and also jade and the interior in Nephrite green leather - anyway, I absolutely love it. If you're going to get your dream car - a 911 - you might as well show everyone!
Hope to have more constructive posts in the future and will attempt to get involved in the running reports which are a great idea. My first entry will be the shock of the cost of having to put 2 new 18" rear tyres on - now saving up for the fronts!!!
Hope to meet some of you in the near future.
Regards
Simon

Ocean Jade, perhaps?

Welcome to the world of the expanding smile and the diminishing wallet!!! I've had mine for nearly twelve months and despite my C4 costing me a mini fortune it is a great drive. Just home from work after a very swift 12 mile blast that really did wipe away all the tiredness and replace it with a nice warm glow.

Hi. Ocean Jade, just like mine ! Aero Kit , just like mine ! C4 and black leather. Some love it, some don't, who cares. Just enjoy , you won't see many either unless you live near me !!

Welcome and health to enjoy it. You know Ocean Blue is the fastest colour though [:D]

I'm sure I've got some Porsche factory documents that show that Arctic Silver is the fastest... something about how the particles all line up to increase the air flow over the body...

Where's zeb when we need him?

The correct answer, of course, is that blue is faster but Lapis blue is fastest [:D]

Found it!

"Spitzengeheimnis

So dort! (Und Carrera 4's sind das Beste irgendwie!)"

A rough translation is:
Top Secret

With the introduction of Arctic Silver as a colour to the Porsche range we have, once and for all, found the fastest colour that can be applied to any 911.

In tests we have found that once the particles align with one another at over 180km/h, air moves over the surface of the car much faster than Ocean Blue; Lagoon Green - or indeed any colour in the Porsche range.

So there! (And Carrera 4's are the best anyway."

How can someone with a 3.4 Silver 911 ever say its faster than a Lagoon Green 3.6 ! Quite Impossible !

Its obvoius that Green is the fastest colour to anyone with an ounce of sense !

got me thinking now boys- Ive got a 53 reg 996 C4 in Arctic silver with aerokit but wheels are gt3 split rims in BLACK. Never thought about it before but do you think that they will affect the performance?[:D]

contrasting wheel colours generaly enhance performance - this is where the silver cars often fall down. [:(]
