Hello all!

I am a newbie to here - hello!!

I live in Tyndrum and have recently 'bought back' my late Dad's 964 which a very dear friend had looked after for the last 6 years. Needless to say, I am just delighted. My start to Porsche ownership has provided its entertainments that's for sure, and I have only had 'George' home for 3 months!!

Just a wee hello for now! At the end of the day, George is home to stay... look forward to reading all the interesting things on here and learning lots too....

Fi )

I'm certain you'll find much to talk about here with so many a fountain of knowledge. Hope you get much from the 964 and take care of her well. I've never had so much fun driving before [:)]

Hi Marcus,

It is indeed a pleasure to own a 'proper car'.... I am officially a bit of a petrol head, and am realising that I do need to get my head down and learn as much as possible about the wee car.... did I say 'wee'???
I don't think I have ever driven any vehicle which has resulted in a permanent grin on my face. Just ace!

[FONT=verdana,geneva"]Most Excellent,

What is the history of your 964? Can you give some detail/spec or better still a pic?

Welcome Fi. [:)] I'm sure our register secretary, Amanda, will be pleased to have another lady 964 owner on board for moral support (not that we've heard from Amanda for a while [&:]).

.....and please forgive Marcus for calling George a 'her'.....he gets confused easily [:D]

Ah, actually - you are pretty good the pair of you! George, actually is a 'she'.... Should all red cars not be 'she's'??
There's a bit of history behind the car - she didn't previously have a name.... and when she came back home, we called her George.... My maiden name is Wilkie - and the number plate is G442 WKE - it just so happens my Grandfather's name was George, and my Dad bought the car without even considering the significance of the number plate... However, she couldn't be a 'he'. That is just not on. So, her name is George. If it is making you wonder about my sanity, don't worry, I have a cat. His name is Dotty. [:)]

George is a 1989 C2, 3.6, red - the fastest colour.... with a yummy cream with red piping interior... [:D]

Steve,
You must remember the film with the song--"Hey there ,Georgie girl"-I think Marcus is right -on for being totally undiscriminating-really,he's a bit like me -can't disriminate between straights & corners.[:)]

Hi Fi,
Welcome to the world of 964.
ps. We also have a Dotty in our house. No, not the wife, her cat, a seal mitted ragdoll!!

[FONT=courier new"]Hey guys, thank you all so much for a lovely welcome!

Gaz, aye, well,I am slightly un-hinged - well spotted. I most certainly will enjoy looking after George for the rest of my life!!

What I didn't say up there, is George has been a bit of a sick chick and is in Aberdeen, however when I get her back home, I will tell you all about it [;)]. Long story... anyway, whilst she is up there, I am getting a wee bit of work done on her... woop!

As for Marcus being crazeeee behind the wheel of a car... I dare not comment. I do enjoy a *cough* progressive drive! Especially with the roads around here... [;)] ... my other toys include a Honda Civic FD2 Type R and a BMW F650 GS... I feel the need... the need for speed. :p

[FONT=verdana, geneva"]'Spirited' or 'sprightly' I think Gaz meant. I can't help it if it was wet with near slick tyres..! Gaz is the one to watch out for [8|]

Well mine is a 'she' and she's coming up to Silverstone for the day on Monday for some pro instruction and thrash time. Just MOT'd, new Conti's and a gearbox full of Swepco.. Don't care what the weather is as at least I won't be at work clearing out my email inbox!

Keep us posted Fi with how things work out for you and 'George'.

Marcus
