Hi everybody, I'm going to look at a 924 tomorrow with the hope of using it whilst I get some bodywork repairs done on my current car. Does anybody use their car everyday?
Thanks

Hi
a friend of mine used a 924 1979 T reg Auto as his everyday car for a year up nutil a couple of months ago and found it a practical proposition as long as you have a bit of common sense and knowledge about older cars.
If you only lift the bonnet to top up the washer, it probably wouldn't suit.
They are a good drive though!
I use my 1983 944regularly (3-4 times per week) and it lives outside and that has been great for the past year.

I'll second that. I had a 2.0 bought in 1988 with 69,000 miles that ran to 110k when I rebuilt it not becasue it needed it but because I could, and I was upgrading the camshaft. Rebuild it was caned mercilessly over the next 130k and in all that time required just two small plates welded to the floor around the jacking points. Very adequate everyday car.

I also have a 2.0 which I bought in 2000 with 150,000 miles in the clock, now it has 206,000 miles and although it has required me to use my credit card a few times they have all been for expected and very long served consumables, otherwise I have driven it, improved it and really been quite taken with it as a all round package.

I belies the fact that it is over 26 years old.

I have owned each 924 model except the Carrera GT.

The first was a 1981 Lux that served as the family car for 8 years and was my wifes 'drive to work.. The major problem in that time was a new clutch.

I then bought a series 2 Turbo that I use for weekends and events. In fact as I write this I am about to take it over to the Isle of Man for a major Club event.

The most recent addition is a 1986 'S' that replaced the Lux as the Family/ wife's drive car.

All of them have been brilliant and that is why my 911 is no longer in use.
