Hi - my car is with a Main Porsche dealer to have a split boot on the outer side of the front drive shaft replaced. During this work they found that the circlip on this part of the drive shaft was broken....no problem please go ahead and replace it..... However the circlip is not available on its own but only as part of the overall driveshaft assembly at a cost of approx. £500.
The dealer has been very helpful and tried to locate a circlip, but with no success. Can anyone help in letting me know where I could buy a suitable circlip?

Retain the broken circlip as a pattern and use it to obtain a replacement. Machine shops and engineering suppliers should be able to help or use google to source one online. It's a fairly straightforward replaceable component. [:)]
Regards,

Clive

Balpan,

If you need to get anything machined then Alan Waite Engineering in Reading are the men. Small little family business but they know their onions. Alan and David his son make a lot of items for my business and they come up trumps every time. They do a lot of head skimming and the like so making up parts is not a problem. Tel 0118 959 1102 and address is Unit 2, 40 Wilton Rd, Reading RG30 2SS.

Cheers

Most of the circlips in UK are made in a factory near Keighley-they are also exported world wide.
Brand name Anderton-they might send you a sample.-Can't remember the factory name though but should come up using Google

Your local bearing supplier should help. It is after all a circlip
Failing that perhaps a used Porsche parts supplier maybe a damaged drive shaft where the Circlip is OK
