help!!!
does anybody out there have a Gemmel alarm. my car has immobilised and i cant start it, im also stranded at my friends house.
when i bought the car i didnt even think the alarm/immobiliser worked. i have just parked up and the damn thing wont start.
the black key fob has two butons on it. i have work out that at 1 click on the ignition the left button will kill/reinstateall the lights in the cabin- but the starter motor still works.
the right hand button doesnt seem to do much- should it?
there is a red led that indicates change to the immobiliser state.
THERE IS ALSO A 1.5 INCH BLACK CYLINDER WITH METAL bit on the end-what does this do? i cant find anything to plug it into.
ive tried phoning the previous owner but they are not in.
HELP
if u know anything about these gemmel alarms please write a speedy reply.

Hi,

Disaster! I don't know anything about Gemmel alarms but I have driven a few cars with immobilisers carrying the type of fob you describe.

The buttons part of the fob has operated the central locking and the alarm system on/off. The black cylinder with the silver metal end (like a ballpoint) needs to be put in contact with a "female" receptor which is usually located on the dash under the steering wheel. There is likely to be an LED which will change its state when you put the two in contact ie it will change from slow single flash to rapid flashing to indicate a successful contact.

Good Luck
