HELP !! Battery is dead and the manual overide cable has stretched !

OK, so what is the solution to this then !

Battery is totally dead. Not used the car for a few weeks and forgot to trickle charge it ! my fault i know

Anyway tried the manual overide to try and get the boot lid up and it appears to be very stretched. Doubt it has ever been used before since the car was new

What options have i got ?

Could i wire a cigarette lighter plug to the socket inside the car and trickle charge it that way ? Not too much current through the socket that way ? I've got one of those lidl/aldi charger things

Or is there another way to get the boot lid up ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Steve

Have you got a little paper fuse guide inside the fusebox lid?
There are instructions there if so.

If not then let us know and we can post instructions.

I can't see what i'm doing in the garage. Both my torches are flat. Nightmare.

Is the small hand release on the drivers side for the fuel cap? Have i got it totally wrong !

Try this, which is what Mark was referring to, I believe:

The cable in the door jamb is the fuel cap yes.

By the drivers foot is your fusebox.
There is a hole in the front to pull the plastic cover off. Insert finger and pull.
There should be a piece of folded paper in the cover that tells you how to get in.
Basically you get a donor battery, pair of jump leads.
Connect the +ve from the donor battery to the red terminal in the fuse box (the terminal pulls out)
connect -ve lead from donor battery to the door striker loop (the chromed bit on the back of the door opening)
That should allow you to operate the switch to get the front boot open.
Don't try and start the car this way!

Thanks Richard. I'll have a go at this when i can get a battery.

Looks like i've stretched the cable on the filler cap release then (Groan!)
